I am the President and Co-Founder of Worldrise, an association born from this passion and the desire to promote knowledge, awareness and action for the protection of the sea and to train future custodians of the Mediterranean’s natural heritage.

I have taught nature popularization at the University of Genoa, contribute to the work of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, dispense required advice to institutions, NGOs, and the private sector, and, after several years in the studio, now travel the world making documentaries for Rai 3’s Kilimangiaro program.

Life achievements: Being invited to the United Nations as an example of a woman who has made a difference for marine conservation and being the star of the cartoon Acquateam Missione Mare in which my faithful companion is of course an octopus named Otty.

My favorite marine animal is the octopus because of its intelligence, versatility and multitasking abilities in which I find myself very much.

With a degree in Product Design from Politecnico di Milano, I have been involved in product design and development between Milan, Amsterdam and Sydney, with a focus on sustainability and life cycle design issues.

In 2013 I co-founded Worldrise immediately dedicating myself to the creative and graphic soul of the association. I coordinate No Plastic More Fun, the world’s first network of completely plastic free venues and clubs and the project related to reducing the environmental impact of music industry and public entertainment: Ecorider. I also work with Ars Maris and Worldrise Walls on the strand of activities that “bring the sea to the city” through art.

Parallel to my commitment with the non-profit organization I organize bi-monthly Remira Market, a second-hand market that supports awareness related to environmental protection and an eco-friendly lifestyle.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a crab, for its creativity in constructing its environment.

After completing my degree in Environmental and Natural Sciences at the University of Genoa, I chose to specialize in Global Change Ecology and Sustainable Development Goals at the University of Bologna.

My journey with Worldrise began as an intern, but it soon became much more. Today, I am responsible for the organization’s communication, managing social media, press relations, and the creation of scientific content both online and offline, with a special focus on SeaMag, Worldrise’s magazine dedicated to telling the story of the sea.

I am happy to be part of the Triblù, as it gives me the opportunity to enrich my personal and professional growth every day.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a turtle—calm yet determined, able to navigate different worlds with balance. Like a turtle, I find my strength in the connection between elements, between land and sea, science and communication.

I was born a historian, but I love learning new things.
Since 2013, I have been working in Fundraising and Project Design for the Non-Profit sector. Over the years, I have worked with national organizations and NGOs, becoming increasingly aware of how each of us can make a tangible impact to improve the world we live in.
At Worldrise, I help people and organizations be part of the change needed to restore the health of the ocean, our life support system.
I believe in curiosity and continuous learning.
I love theater, books, TV series, British romantic films, and climbing.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a dolphin—sociable, curious, and aware of the importance of acting together.

My professional history stems from a desire to be an active part of large collective projects. Starting at age 16 as a volunteer, I grew up and chose to devote my career to the non-profit sector. In over twenty years of experience, I have transformed this passion into a profession, earning a degree and specializing in the administrative management of Third Sector Entities (ETS).

Today, I am the Administrative Manager for Banco Alimentare della Sicilia ODV and Worldrise. I see my work as an act of care to protect the organization and ensure it has a real impact. I am inspired by the metaphor of the cathedral builder: I see not only the individual accounting “stone,” but the common work we are doing for the community and for future generations, starting with my daughters. For me, administration is the solid and transparent foundation on which every concrete action to protect our sea rests.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a seahorse, because it is in my nature to take meticulous care of what is entrusted to me and to have the resilience necessary to protect dreams and projects.

In 2001, with very little experience, I first set foot in a major communications agency in Milan. Later I specialized and grew professionally as a graphic designer working in other agencies also in Milan. I studied editorial graphics at Il Bauer, a training school specializing in the area of photography, visual communication and video. I have deepened my knowledge in movable type printing techniques, screen printing and engraving and all that craftsmanship can be in the development of a graphic project.
I worked as an EMT for the Milan White Cross for 17 years dealing with emergency response for 112.
My greatest passion is directed toward nature and all sports that can put me in touch with it.
From all this was born Whales in the Garage, a journey through the seas and oceans of Europe in search of stories, cues and colors, a graphic project at the mercy of the waves and driven by the gusts of the wind. It was precisely the wind that brought me to Tarifa and introduced me to Eva Carpinelli and the Nereid project for which I contributed on a visual and conceptual level creating Campaigns aimed at environmental protection. From there I came to Worldrise, where I currently work as a Graphic Designer. In 2020 I became a mom to Aliseo.

If I were a marine animal I would want to be a whale shark, because it is not a whale but not a predatory shark either, it is peaceful, swims a lot and has thick skin but covered with “stars”.

My mission is to create meaningful connections between ideas, people and nature, working passionately to protect biodiversity, enhance the land and promote environmental, economic and social sustainability.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Bari and later earned master’s degrees in digital reputation management and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) management.

My professional experience is focused in the world of third sector and project management related to biodiversity. In 2013, I founded and managed until 2023 the nonprofit organization GreenRope, coordinating regional and European projects aimed at protecting the environment and raising awareness of the importance of natural resources, and at the same time, from 2015 until 2023, I collaborated with the Jonian Dolphin Conservation as Marine Mammal Observer, working on cetacean research and biodiversity in the Gulf of Taranto through Citizen Science initiatives.

Over the years, I have worked in numerous projects covering different roles, from volunteer to coordinator, dedicated to environmental protection with public and private organizations in Italy and around the world, helping to spread and promote the culture of sustainability and a life more in touch with Mother Nature.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a turtle, because I identify with its wisdom and its patient and tireless way of protecting nature and navigating the world around it.

I was born on the sea in Sardinia and have a visceral relationship with it. The desire to know its wonders and to be able to convey the importance of its conservation is my reason for living. Driven by this dream, as soon as I graduated from high school, with suitcase in hand I moved to Genoa, the home of marine biology. Here I began my university education, which ended several years later with the completion in 2016 of my PhD in Marine Science.

During these wonderful years, I had the immense fortune to sail the sea, plying its blue surface from the Ligurian Sea to the southern extremities of the Tyrrhenian Sea. I have encountered almost every species of cetacean in the Mediterranean basin. I recorded their positions, heard their vocalizations, photographed their fins, and saw fin whales and sperm whales leap out of the water. The emotions I experienced led me to fall more and more in love with these beautiful giants, as fascinating as they are useful inhabitants of the deep. Thanks to my education, I studied the functioning of the marine ecosystem and the ecosystem balances in which cetaceans play a fundamental role, identifying my mission: to enhance the importance of their conservation to protect marine biodiversity.

Since 2016, I have been working with Worldrise, starting with the project “Il Golfo dei Delfini”, where, as a scientific coordinator, I contributed to the conservation of coastal dolphin species and engaged university students in data collection. With a passion for empowering new generations in marine conservation, since 2021, I have been coordinating the Campus programs to train future guardians of Italy’s marine heritage. In 2024, I joined the SEATY – Local Marine Conservation Areas project as the Sardinia Territorial Coordinator, helping to strengthen people’s connection to the sea with the goal of inspiring them to take action for its conservation.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a dolphin…you already know why!

Graduated in International Relations with a strong interest in marine ecosystem sustainability, ocean governance and plastic pollution. For the past few years I have been involved in volunteer management in international environmental conservation projects, and now I work in operations, logistical and administrative coordination for Worldrise.

I was born and raised in Rome but after university I had experiences, on and off the field, of various kinds, which led me to live in various countries, until I returned to Italy at the end of 2019.

If I were a marine animal I would probably be what I feel is my totem animal: the humpback whale. The humpback whale is able to communicate over very great distances, which is very fascinating. They are also great travelers: in one year they can go from the poles to tropical waters!

In 2018 I graduated in Biological Sciences in Ferrara. My passion for the marine world led me to attend a Master’s degree in Marine Biology in Ancona, and after graduating I decided to continue my path in the world of research and marine biology, starting a PhD in Pisa. Meanwhile, the mysterious algorithms of social networks and my passion for outreach led me to learn about Worldrise and undertake an internship for the 30×30 Italy project. Since early 2022, I have been part of the team and work enthusiastically in 30×30 Italy’s communication to protect 30 percent of our seas.

I strongly believe that outreach is a fundamental means to protect the environment, the sea and the wonderful creatures it hosts. I love scuba diving, but yoga and fitness are also key activities to make me feel good.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a seal-so cute and cuddly when out of the water, but also determined and energetic when it comes to action!

I am a marine biologist and science communicator. Of my work, I love being able to combine my passion and ocean-related skills with science communication and education.

My great love for the marine environment was born when I took my first scuba dive at the age of 15. Since then, I have continued to dive and today I am a certified PADI Rescue Diver.

I graduated in Biological Sciences in Milan, Italy, later moving to the Netherlands to specialize in Marine Sciences. I conducted research projects on coastal birds and marine mammals abroad, while at the same time deepening my interest in science outreach, making videos and content for social media.

I met Worldrise in 2019 and was immediately fascinated by its creative and engaging projects concerning the sea. Therefore, it was a great opportunity and honor for me to join the Triblù in March 2022. Currently, my role is divided between Empowerment and Communication: I am responsible for designing and implementing educational activities in schools, Worldrise training campuses, and corporate awareness sessions, while also overseeing the creation of informative content for the organization’s channels.

If I were a sea animal I would be a seahorse because I am understanding, caring and protective!

Born and raised by the sea, I have always been in love with it; it is the only place where I feel everything falls back into place. I love to travel, I have a passion for photography and writing.
I studied Communication Sciences, but the world of events has always fascinated me, especially for the possibility of organizing initiatives that have a positive social and environmental impact. After pursuing a master’s degree in Event Management, I immersed myself in this field.
I am involved in projects that enhance lesser known but historically rich places, preferring cultural, artistic and musical events, convinced that art in all its forms makes the world more beautiful.

I met Worldrise during a music festival, where I was struck by their engaging approach to raising awareness of marine issues. Their ability to turn awareness into concrete action immediately fascinated me, making me feel part of something bigger. Today, I work with Worldrise on logistics and organizing projects/events dedicated to protecting the seas through art and music. Being part of triblù makes me feel that I can actively contribute to this change.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a blue surgeonfish, known to many as Dory. In addition to curiosity and energy, I recognize myself in her vulnerability, balanced, however, by a great capacity for resilience and adaptation. Even when everything seems uncertain, I always find a way to keep going….

With a bachelor’s degree in humanities, I have over 10 years of experience in the third sector, especially in international animal protection. At Dogs Trust Worldwide, I spent six years working in project management, grant making, and capacity building, collaborating with NGOs around the world and visiting them in the field. This experience taught me how essential the involvement of local communities is to building solid and effective partnerships.

In 2020, I shifted my focus to marine conservation: after six months of volunteering in Costa Rica with local NGOs, where I saw firsthand the issues threatening marine biodiversity, I earned a Master’s degree in Marine Science and Climate Change from the University of Gibraltar.

As a passionate swimmer and diver, today, as Project Manager for SEATY, I look forward to contributing to the realization of our solid mission: to reconnect people to the sea through awareness-raising, environmental protection, and community involvement.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a hammerhead shark, for its 360° vision, agility, adaptability, as well as its symbolism of strength and determination.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are linked to the sea: jumping off rocks, exploring until my fingers were wrinkled, swimming breathlessly to the buoys.

I tried to get away from the sea by studying Anthropology in Siena and Political Science in Milan, I lived in many countries working as a volunteer for humanitarian and development projects, but when Worldrise called, I couldn’t resist!

My favorite underwater signal is the one for turtles. I love sailing close-hauled with the wind in my face and playing cards at the club.

If I were an animal, I would definitely be a seal: I adapt to land and sea, I am sometimes clumsy but also agile and strong in my environment, and I know how to stop and enjoy the moment.

I am Claudia, a graduate student in political science with an international focus. I was born by the sea and water is my natural element. As a child I dreamed of turning into a mermaid, but then I had to fall back on a diving suit.

I love traveling and diving. I have been organizing events for more than two decades and have been involved in responsible and sustainable tourism for the past few years. I am Project Officer for the SEATY AMP Capo Milazzo.

If I were a marine animal I would be a jellyfish and more exactly the lung of the sea, because it wanders all its life through the seas, is not stinging, offers protection and is very welcoming.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in publishing and journalism, my love for music, without which I won’t deny I could never be, led me to Milan where I earned a master’s degree in music publishing and production and two major courses at the Santeria School of Artistic Production. Then I met Worldrise.

It was love at first sight. I currently follow the Music for the Sea project.
Character, good temperament, sensitivity, little sleep I think are among my main characteristics as well as honesty in recognizing that there is still a lot to do to become a better person. I think if each of us did our little piece, we would be in a better world without even realizing it.
So I said to myself why not start with the sea? The sea starts here!

If I were a sea animal I would be a starfish because stars are not only in the sky, Dalla would have sung.

I graduated in the master courses of Marine Science and Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Genoa.

I got to know Worldrise by participating as a student in a Naturalistic Divulgation course taught by Mariasole Bianco, and from there I began to participate in the association’s events as a volunteer with increasing frequency.

Today, I work with Worldrise as an operator in educational projects in schools and businesses.

I have a strong passion for planet Earth and nature, but also for the people who inhabit it and their history, traditions and myths. I am also, not too secretly, a fan of board games, comic books and animation.

If I were a marine animal, I would be a manatee, because I find myself in its kindness and calm tranquility that it brings to itself and to others.

I am an adopted Ligurian Tuscan with a deep passion for the sea. I have a bachelor’s degree in biology and a PhD in marine biology and ecology. I am a partner in the company Ubica srl, which I founded with other partners more than a decade ago and offers technical services in the field of scientific research applied to the sea.

In 2017 I became an environmental educator, registered in the Ligurian regional directory. I collaborate with Worldrise on projects for education, training and protection of the coastal marine environment.

If I were a marine animal, I would definitely be a gorgonian, from the Mediterranean of course! My curly hair, in fact, looks just like the branches of red gorgonians. I also like to be in company, too, just like the polyps of these corals that communicate with each other every day and give shelter to a lot of other animals. And then, let’s face it, I bend yes but I don’t break, just like the gorgonians do under the pull of the currents they use to feed.

I am Ubaldo, in 2008 I graduated in Environmental Sciences with a focus on Management and Conservation of the Marine Environment and concluded my education with a PhD in Science Curriculum Civil and Environmental Protection. Since 2008 I have been Coordinator of Volunteer Divers in the Southern Adriatic Sea for Reef Check Italia Onlus, an association that promotes participatory research projects dedicated to the protection and recovery of Mediterranean reefs and all coral areas. I work in marine and coastal habitat monitoring and characterization, underwater cartography and remote sensing techniques.

I enjoy my work terribly and I like the idea of being able to share my passion whenever I have the opportunity, which is why I have been involved for years in educational and training activities in the fields of marine-coastal cartography and environmental and ecological sciences. Since March 2021 I have been collaborating with the Worldrise team in educational and training projects.

If I were a marine animal I would be an amberjack, a skilled swimmer always on the move through the seas, as curious and gregarious as ever, kind of like me, right?

I studied Biological Sciences in Genoa with a specialization in biological monitoring. After graduating in 2009, I continued the path I started in university, working in the field of marine environmental physiology studying in particular mussels, which are excellent indicators of water health and able to give us information about the physiological effects of different environmental stresses.

I then worked a few years in a renewable energy research center, a job a bit far from my passions, but still a useful and even fun experience, especially for the colleagues I was lucky enough to meet.
In 2018 I came to Worldrise, or Worldrise came to me, with many new things to learn, primarily learning how to communicate! I have been involved in a bit of everything, mostly in educational projects, but also in administration and coordination of the association’s various activities.

I currently work as a researcher for the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle D’Aosta, an institution that deals with animal health.

Although the vast universe of mollusks has always been my favorite, if I were a marine animal I would be the female seahorse so I could watch the male carry eggs and give birth!

My passion for the sea began as a child by diving and fishing and has grown over the years by studying Marine Biology. Today I collaborate at the University of Genoa doing research on fisheries resource management. I approached this topic by working on bycatch species, such as sharks and rays, during my master’s and doctoral studies and then expanded my interest to commercial species as well.

I work with Worldrise as an external consultant on the topic of fisheries, to jointly develop projects and outreach materials on the fisheries that take place in the Italian seas of the Mediterranean Sea.

If I were a marine animal I would be a mussel, a species that can be easily bred in our seas, and whose breeding has one of the lowest environmental impacts, becoming a sustainable food.

I was born in Rome, but my Sicilian origins tie me inextricably to the sea. It is definitely the natural element that most fascinates and represents me. I often find comfort in its waves, as well as in the shades of colors and the scent of saltiness. I am also grateful to the sea for the sense of strength and security it manages to give me: therefore, I feel obliged to take care of it, and that is why together with Worldrise I am committed to defend, protect and safeguard our marine heritage.

Digital disseminator, expert in sustainability and sustainable development goals. After a law degree and a specialization in sustainable development and Arctic studies, he worked for the Marine Hydrographic Institute in Genoa where he developed a project on One Ocean protection and seabed mapping with the Seabed 2030 GEBCO initiative. He has also worked in Ecuador on a project on territorialization of the Sustainable Development Goals with the support of Fundacion Amor 7.8 and the Vice-Presidency.
We can all be agents of change and every small gesture to protect our Ocean is a gesture made to life, together we can transform ourselves from ethical consumers to conscious and committed activists! The world is thirsty for change, sustainable change!

A graduate in Biology and Evolutionary Biology from Padua and former student of the Galilean School of Advanced Studies in Padua, today a science popularizer and founder of Entropy for Life. I became an Ambassador of Worldrise because I believe it is essential to support realities that aim to protect natural environments by acting pragmatically and concretely. I hope to help many of Worldrise’s projects become better known and supported.

I am 9 years old and I love the sea.
My favorite animals are the Humpback whale and the Beluga, and I love to go on offshore excursions to spot Dolphins in the wild.
When I was three years old I was reading my father’s Red Sea diving guide and I am told that one of the first words I memorized was Pseudochromis.
I met Worldrise in 2021 and fell in love with the people, the ideas they bring forth, and the commitment they put into engaging the new “blue generation.”
I participate in events and awareness meetings aimed mainly at my peers, I tell them about the sea, how beautiful and fragile it is at the same time and what we can do every day to defend it.

The sea is my second home even though I live in Milan, as soon as I have a free moment I go there for a dive or just to listen to the sound of the waves!
After knowing many different realities in the environmental field, I found in Worldrise the same love and passion for the sea that have accompanied me since I was a child.”

The search for solutions to the environmental problem of single-use plastics brought me to Worldrise. This collaboration restores my hope for the future.

Worldrise was a “love at first sight.”
Infected by the enthusiasm, energy and passion that young people put into making their dreams come true for a better world, it was spontaneous for me to get active in my own small way with fundraisers to help make concrete their projects involving everyone for a good life in a healthy environment.

The sea is connection.
I am discovering this more and more every day, thanks to the people I meet and the books I read.
Since Mariasole came to Berlin to present her book, the sea has entered my everyday life and enriched my life with awareness, wonder, and a desire to act.
As a child with my parents, we never left a beach without slipping on a mask and snorkel to admire the life beneath the waves and without picking up the trash we found.
Now, with Worldrise I feel I continue to do both and am grateful to this wonderful group for the infectious energy.

There is a moment, just below the surface, when everything falls silent. Your breathing slows down, your heart calms down, the light dances in the water.
For Cristiana, diving is not just an adventure: it is a homecoming, among the waves, where the soul feels light.
The sea is a place of freedom, but also a profound reminder of our responsibility towards what binds us to life itself.
This connection gave rise to her commitment as an Ambassador, an initiative that she feels is deeply consistent with the path that has always guided her work and that of Refe, of which she is the founder and President.
One of the first in Italy to focus on sustainability, for over 25 years Cristiana has been helping companies, institutions, and third sector organizations integrate ESG factors into their governance, management systems, and stakeholder relations.
Her commitment, both at work and at sea, is the same: to generate authentic value and respectfully preserve what unites us at a deep level.
